Have you ever had a sink dripper peach? There is nothing better than a fresh peach that is eaten over the sink. Perfectly picked Palisade Peaches that are perfectly ripened, are just that!
DECADES LONG COMMITMENT:
2025 marks or 41st year bringing only the very best premium quality Palisade Peaches to Loveland for our friends, family, and incredible customers to enjoy. Bringing just any Palisade Peach to your table isn't our standard. Our Palisade Peach Growers (and all growers for that matter) are carefully chosen and must utilize the very best growing, harvesting, handling, and packing practices, thus maintaining the bery best premium quality that we all expect. New loads of fresh picked Palisade Peaches arrive at our fruitstand at least twice each week during harvest season.
PEACH SEASON:
Palisade Peach season starts in early July during a normal season, and typically continues thru mid-late september. Cling Peaches get Palisade Peach Season off the ground for a few growers in the early season and then transition into all freestone or cling-free peaches in late July. Cling peaches are typically not the preferred peach for canning or freezing, however they can still be used in various recipes, jams, etc. Cling peaches are messy since they still cling to the seed but, they are fantastic for eating. Around August 5th typically starts peak season for Palisade Peaches where every Peach is a freestone variety. Now were into prime canning and freezing fruit!
PEACH VARIETIES:
Palisade Peaches arent just a single variety that is harvested throughout the season. Believe it or not, varieties change as frequently as every few days and multiple varieties are sometimes picked on the same orchard and at the same time. During a normal season, we could see twenty or more varieties from start to finish.
HOW DO I CHOOSE?:
There are many favorites among the varieties of Palisade Peaches. However, if you were to ask ten different people, you may very well receive ten different answers. Many will say "I have no idea, they're all fantastic from start to finish"! Others will consider themselves Palisade Peach Conissuers, addicts, or are just plain "Peach Snobby", as we describe ourselves. Every answer is correct, so don't worry, we are here to help and are always happy to educate. So, to get down to it... Some of our favorite varieties are Red Haven, Glo Haven, Red Globe, Crest Haven, various Paul Friday (PF) varieties, O'Henry, and a new late season peach out of Utah called Kauea.
UTAH, WHAT?:
That's right, we're not dont yet! Palisade Peaches aren't the only great peach variety out there. In the very late season and when the Palisade climate starts to change (i.e. large temperature variations between day and night and primarily colder night temps), we typically transition from Palisade Peaches to Utah Peaches to finish out our season. There are two reasons for this. First, with wide temperature variations that we talked about before, it also greatly increases the chances of peaches turning Mealy or Mushy. This is not a good peach and is many times an indicator that we are are quickly nearing the end of the season. There are many ideas and studies about what causes a mealy peach but many point to extended refrigeration, and seasonal climate changes (The primary reason why we transition), such as what we have explained prior in this section. We do not use extended refrigeration practices anytime through the season. Second, Utah Harvest runs later than Colorado by a couple weeks due to a slightly different and generally warmer climate. They are also a big supplier of our late season Apples, Pears, Pluots, and Pie Cherries that so many of you love. Our Utah Peach varieties are all freestone as well.
ARE ANY PEACHES AVAILABLE BEFORE PALISADE PEACH SEASON STARTS?:
Yes! Although Palisade Peaches are the best you can get, we are many times successful in finding some mighty tasty peaches for those or you (us included) who are peach hungry. We sometimes bring in a few peaches from the south. We are also able to locate some tasty California varieties as well. Wait, what? Although many will argue that they never find a good California Peach in the grocery store, just remember that we aren't the grocery store and have that premium quality standard. We also have alternative sources for obtaining early, out-of-state peaches in smaller shipments which means better quality. Bottom line is that if we don't like the product, we won't put in in our fruit stand, our farmer's markets, or on your table. If we run into gaps in supply, this is usually the main reason. Again, these are just the starters to satisy your craving, the best comes once Palisade Peaches start up.
WE'RE HERE AND ALWAYS HAPPY TO HELP!:
